About Tim Burden Portrait Artist
Tim was born in 1979 into a large theatrical family. His father, an artist and writer, employed his skills as a set designer and playwright. He built a large-scale marionette show which he took on the road and performed all over the country with his wife. They loved what they did and gave up their day jobs to make a living out of puppetry for many years. The uniqueness and imagination of their work made a deep impression on Tim, who became interested in creating art and writing songs from a young age.
After immersing himself in Art & Music at school and 6th form, Tim got in to the prestigious Wimbledon College of Arts where he pursued Fine Art, Photography and 3D Design. In 1999, with an interest in broadening his creative horizons, he went on to take the highly sought after four-year Interior Architecture & Design course at The Nottingham Trent Uni.
When Tim graduated in 2003, he worked in Events Production for two years designing sets for high profile corporate events, before moving into luxury hotel and residential design and eventually setting up his own interior design practice, Timothy James Interiors in 2011.
After all these years, Tim decided it is time to sell his artwork and offer commissions, going public with his art in 2020. He has an art studio in Bath where he paints, and a design studio on the slopes of Richmond Hill. This allows him to serve interior design clients in his native West London, as well as Bath.
Tim is available to take portrait and figure painting commissions. He works predominantly from photos which he takes himself, from a live sitting with you. Alternatively, he might be happy to paint from a good reference photo you supply.
